Hawa is the Arabic and Swahili form of Eve, from the Hebrew Chawwah, which means "living" or "life". As the name of the first woman in the Quran as well as the Bible, it is used across the Muslim world and is especially common in West Africa, in Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Senegal, where many American bearers have roots. Hawa has moved between number 1649 and number 2315 since 2015, peaking in 2024, and ranks 1813 in 2025.
