Graysen is a variant of Grayson, an English surname that means "son of the steward", from the Middle English greyve, a reeve or bailiff. The -sen ending gives the fast-rising Grayson a Scandinavian twist. In the United States Graysen entered the top 1000 in 2011, peaked at number 700 in 2016 and has eased off as the Grayson wave crested, slipping out of the top 1000 in 2022 and standing at number 1390 in 2025.
