Gracie is the pet form of Grace, from the Latin gratia, and means "grace" or "favor", one of the Puritan virtue names that never left American use. Comedian Gracie Allen made the nickname a stage name in the 1930s, and today it stands on its own on birth certificates. Gracie has been in the US top 1000 since 2000, when it ranked number 245; it reached the top 100 at number 94 in 2005 and ranks number 227 in 2025.
