Gitty is a Yiddish pet form of Gittel, which comes from the Yiddish word gut and means "good". It is used almost exclusively in Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish communities, where it is often paired with a second name, and its presence in the national charts reflects the large Jewish communities of New York and New Jersey. Gitty has moved up steadily from number 1734 in 2015 to number 1194 in 2025, its highest rank on record.
