Gavriel is the Hebrew form of Gabriel and means "God is my strength", from gever, strong man, and El, God. Gabriel is the archangel who announces the births of John the Baptist and Jesus and, in Jewish tradition, one of the angels who visits Abraham. The Hebrew spelling is used mainly in observant Jewish families in the United States; Gavriel ranked number 2495 in 2000 and reaches number 1514 in 2025, its best rank so far.
