Felix is a Latin name that means "lucky" or "fortunate"; it was the name of several popes and saints and a favorite among the Romans. Felix the Cat, the silent-film cartoon star of the 1920s, gave the name a playful note in America. Felix ranked 377th in the United States in 2000 and has climbed steadily, from number 264 in 2015 to number 175 in 2025, its best rank in this century.
