Devonte is a modern American name that joins Devon, from the English county or the Irish Devin, with the -te ending of Dante, so it is best described as "a modern blend of Devon and Dante". It became popular in African American communities in the late 1980s and 1990s. Devonte stood at number 501 in 2000, its peak year, then slid steadily and ranks number 1890 in 2025.
