Deonte is a modern American name that grew out of Deon, a form of Dion, which goes back to the Greek god Dionysus and is usually glossed as "child of Zeus"; the ending -te was borrowed from Dante. It was a favorite in African-American families in the 1990s. Deonte ranked number 605 in 2000, left the top 1000 in the following decade and stands at number 2400 in 2025.
