Devon is the name of a county in southwest England, taken from the Celtic tribe of the Dumnonii, and it doubles as a spelling of the Irish Devin, which is usually read as "fawn" from the Gaelic damh, a stag. The name was at its height in the United States in the 1990s. Devon ranked number 133 in 2000 and has fallen steadily since, from number 554 in 2015 to number 1028 in 2025.
