Dayami is a modern Latin American name of "uncertain origin", widely used in Cuba and Mexico; it is usually explained as a blend of Dayana and the ending -mi, and some writers connect it to the indigenous Taíno language. In the United States it belongs to Hispanic families and has moved in waves: it was number 13594 in 2000, shot into the top 1000 at number 754 in 2008, fell back out, then rose again from number 4134 in 2022 to number 2493 in 2025.
