Daxton is a modern American name that extends Dax, a short name from the French town of Dax, with the -ton ending of Paxton and Braxton; it has no traditional meaning beyond "from Dax". It appeared in the US records in the 2000s as parents looked for fresh x-names in the vein of Jaxon and Maddox. Daxton entered the US top 1000 in 2009, peaked at number 279 in 2019 and ranks number 379 in 2025.
