Davie is a pet form of David, the Hebrew name meaning "beloved" and the name of the shepherd boy who became king of Israel. For a girl it joins the fashion for breezy boyish nicknames such as Stevie, Charlie and Frankie. Davie ranked number 7059 for girls in 2015 and has risen steadily to number 2565 in 2025, its best position on record.
