Stevie is the pet form of Stephanie and Stephen, which come from the Greek stephanos and mean "crown" or "garland". Singer Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac made it a girl's name with rock-and-roll credentials, and it fits the current taste for boyish nicknames like Billie and Frankie. Stevie entered the US top 1000 for girls in 2014 and has climbed every year since, from number 981 in 2015 to number 203 in 2025, its best rank ever.
