Daria is the feminine form of Darius, from the Old Persian Darayavahush, usually explained as "possessing goodness" or "holding firm the good". Saint Daria was martyred in Rome in the 3rd century, and the name is common in Russia, Poland and Italy; in America the sardonic MTV cartoon Daria made it a 1990s touchstone. Daria ranked number 1134 in 2000, its best year, and has drifted around 1700 to 2050 since, standing at number 1858 in 2025.
