Damion is a variant of Damian, from the Greek Damianos, which comes from daman and means "to tame" or "to subdue". Saint Damian, a physician martyred with his twin brother Cosmas, made the name a Christian classic, and the Damion spelling has been in steady American use since the 1970s. It sat at number 433 in 2000, peaked at number 432 in 2002 and has gradually slipped out of the top 1000 to number 2265 in 2025.
