Dakari is a name of uncertain origin, usually explained as a form of the Shona name Dakarai from Zimbabwe, which means "happiness" or "rejoice"; in the United States it also fits the pattern of Amari, Kamari and Jamari. African American families have led its rise as a distinctive, rhythmic choice. Dakari entered the US top 1000 in 2018, peaked at number 666 in 2020 and ranks number 837 among boys in 2025.
