Dafne is the Spanish and Italian form of Daphne, the Greek word for "laurel". In Greek myth the nymph Daphne was turned into a laurel tree to escape Apollo, which is why laurel became his sacred plant. In the United States Dafne is chosen mostly by Hispanic families and has been rising fast, from number 2261 in 2020 into the top 1000 at number 873 in 2024, before settling at number 1047 in 2025.
