Conor is the Irish spelling of the Gaelic Conchobhar, usually explained as "lover of hounds" or "wolf lover", the name of a legendary king of Ulster in the Irish sagas. The spelling with one n is the one used in Ireland, while Americans have preferred Connor; the fighter Conor McGregor gave the Irish form a boost in the mid-2010s. Conor stood at number 365 in 2000, peaked at number 308 in 2017 and ranks number 845 among boys in 2025.
