Connor is the English form of the Irish Conchobhar, which is usually explained as "lover of hounds" or "wolf lover"; Conchobar mac Nessa was a legendary king of Ulster. It became a mainstream American name in the 1990s, helped by the Highlander hero Connor MacLeod. Connor ranked 50th in the United States in 2000, peaked at number 38 in 2004 and stayed in the top 100 through 2021; in 2025 it stands at number 166.
