Cattleya is the name of a genus of showy tropical orchids, which the botanist John Lindley named in 1824 after the English horticulturist William Cattley, so the name means "Cattley's orchid". It is a rare flower name with a lush, exotic feel, in the spirit of Dahlia and Magnolia. Cattleya jumped from number 1765 in 2022 into the US top 1000 at number 904 in 2024 and ranks 1212 in 2025.
