Cassiel is the name of an archangel in Jewish and Christian angel lore, the angel of Saturn and of tears; the Hebrew form is usually explained as "speed of God" or "God is my cover". Wim Wenders gave the name to one of the two angels in his film Wings of Desire, and it has since appealed to parents looking for an unusual alternative to Gabriel and Ezekiel. Cassiel is new in US records and reached its best rank, number 2488, in 2025.
