Carmine is the Italian masculine form of Carmen, which goes back to Our Lady of Mount Carmel; the Hebrew karmel means "garden" or "orchard", while the Latin spelling was influenced by carmen, "song". In the United States it is a classic Italian-American name, pronounced CAR-min or CAR-mee-nay. Carmine was in the top 1000 from 2005 to around 2010, peaking at number 790 in 2006, and has risen again from number 1517 in 2019 to number 1035 in 2025.
