Bridgette is a spelling of Bridget that borrows the look of the French Brigitte. All of these go back to the Irish Brighid, which means "exalted one" or "strength", the name of a Celtic goddess and of Saint Brigid of Kildare, Ireland's patroness alongside Patrick. In the United States Bridgette ranked number 875 in 2000, left the top 1000 later that decade and stands at number 2125 among girls' names in 2025.
