Annette is a French diminutive of Anne, which goes back to the Hebrew Hannah and means "grace" or "favor". It was a midcentury favorite in America, helped along by Annette Funicello, the best-known of the original Mouseketeers. Annette ranked number 745 in 2000 and had a late bump to number 596 in 2002, but has since left the top 1000 and sits at number 1443 in 2025.
