Axl

What does the name Axl mean?

Axl is the rock-and-roll spelling of Axel, the Scandinavian form of the Hebrew Absalom, "my father is peace". Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose owns the spelling, and when Fergie and Josh Duhamel named their son Axl in 2013 it took off with parents. Axl entered the US top 1000 in 2014, peaked at number 677 in 2019 and has slipped back to number 1123 in 2025.
