Axell is a spelling variant of Axel, the Scandinavian form of the Hebrew Absalom, which means "my father is peace" or "father of peace". The doubled l follows the pattern of Latin American spellings such as Maxell and Jaxell and is especially popular in Mexican American families. In the United States Axell rose from number 5062 in 2000 to a peak of number 1566 in 2021 and ranks number 2007 in 2025.
