Aven is a short modern name of uncertain origin; it is usually read as a form of the Celtic river name Avon, from the Welsh afon, "river", or simply as a fresh blend of Aiden and Evan. It is used for both boys and girls and shares its airy sound with Haven and Avery. For boys Aven reached its best rank of number 1,072 in 2012, dipped to number 1,931 in 2021 and has recovered to number 1,256 in 2025.
