Avelina is the Latinate form of Aveline, a Norman French name that the Normans brought to England and that later became Evelina and Evelyn. Its origin is uncertain; it is usually explained as an elaboration of the Germanic name Avila, from the element avi, perhaps "desired", while others link it to Latin avis, "bird". Avelina ranked number 6521 in 2000, rose during the 2010s and reaches its best rank, number 2442, in 2025 with 73 girls.
