Atticus is a Latin name meaning "from Attica" or "Athenian", the region around Athens, and was borne by Cicero's close friend Titus Pomponius Atticus. For modern parents the name belongs above all to Atticus Finch, the principled lawyer in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. In the United States Atticus entered the top 1000 in 2004, rose from number 347 in 2015 to 264 in 2021 and ranks 281st among boys' names in 2025.
