Aspen is the English name of the trembling poplar, whose leaves quiver in the slightest breeze, from the Old English aespe, so the name means "aspen tree" or "quaking poplar". For Americans it is also the glamorous Colorado ski town, which puts it in the company of place names like Savannah and Sierra. Aspen has been in the US top 1000 for girls all century, rose from number 570 in 2000 to a peak of number 196 in 2022 and ranks number 266 in 2025.
