Arianna is the Italian form of Ariadne and means "most holy" or "very pure", from the Greek ari, very, and hagnos, holy. In Greek myth Ariadne gave Theseus the thread that led him out of the Minotaur's labyrinth. Arianna rose from number 128 in 2000 to its US peak of number 40 in 2014, boosted by the singer Ariana Grande's rise, and has since slipped out of the top 100 to number 234 in 2025.
