Antoine is the French form of Anthony, from the Roman family name Antonius, whose meaning is unknown but is traditionally rendered as "priceless" or "praiseworthy". Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of The Little Prince, is the most famous bearer, and the name has long been popular in African American families. Antoine ranked number 589 in 2000, fell out of the top 1000 in the mid-2010s and stands at number 1708 in 2025.
