Ania is the Polish pet form of Anna, which goes back to the Hebrew Channah and means "grace" or "favor". In Poland it is the everyday way to address an Anna, and Polish American families have carried it over as a name in its own right. In the United States Ania ranked number 1413 in 2000, reached its high of number 1273 in 2004 and has settled around number 2500, standing at number 2544 in 2025.
