Angie is a pet form of Angela and Angelica and, like them, means "angel" or "messenger", from the Greek angelos. The Rolling Stones' 1973 ballad Angie made it a stand-alone name, and in the United States it is especially common in Hispanic families. Angie ranked number 500 in 2000, peaked at number 331 in 2007 and has stayed between 590 and 740 for the past decade, ranking number 705 in 2025.
