Amazi is a modern American coinage of uncertain origin, usually read as a name drawn from the word "amazing", with the fashionable -i ending of Amari and Kamari. Some parents may also hear the Kinyarwanda word amazi, which means "water". The name first appears in the US statistics in 2019 and has risen quickly, from number 2362 in 2023 to number 1586 in 2025, its highest rank so far.
