Aislinn is an Irish name from the word aisling, which means "dream" or "vision", and it is also the name of a genre of 18th-century Irish poetry in which Ireland appears as a woman in a vision. The traditional pronunciation is ASH-lin, which is why Ashlyn is its anglicized cousin.
