Aelin is a literary name created by Sarah J. Maas for Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, the heroine of her Throne of Glass series. It has no traditional meaning of its own, but it borrows the look of Aileen and Elin, which go back to Helen and its usual reading "light" or "torch". Aelin was far outside the top 10,000 in 2017 and has climbed every year since, reaching number 1855 in 2025, its best rank so far.
