Evelin is the Spanish, German and Hungarian spelling of Evelyn, which goes back to the Norman French Aveline, a diminutive of the Germanic Avila, whose root is usually explained as "desired" or "wished-for child". In the United States it is used mostly by Hispanic families as a shorter twin of Evelyn. Evelin entered the top 1000 in 2002, peaked at number 674 in 2006 and has slipped to number 2159 in 2025.
