Abriel is a modern name of uncertain origin, usually explained as a blend of Abraham, "father of many", and Gabriel, "God is my strength", or as a masculine take on Abrielle. It has no long history of its own and is chosen mostly for its soft, biblical sound. In the United States Abriel hovers around the lower ranks: number 2754 in 2014 and number 2835 in 2025 with 44 births.
