Abdoulaye is the West African, French-spelled form of Abdullah and means "servant of God", from the Arabic abd, servant, and Allah. It is one of the most common men's names in Senegal, Mali, Guinea and Ivory Coast, carried by figures such as Abdoulaye Wade, president of Senegal from 2000 to 2012. In the United States it is given almost entirely in West African immigrant families: Abdoulaye ranked number 3219 in 2000, has hovered around number 3000 for a decade and reaches its best rank, number 2480, in 2025 with 54 boys.
