Zhamira is a modern American spelling of Zamira, a name that is usually read as "song" from the Hebrew zamir or as "good voice" from Albanian; the Zh- opening mirrors the Russian and Central Asian pronunciation of the name. It is close kin to Samira and the equally new Xamira. Zhamira was almost unknown until recently, then jumped from number 2177 in 2024 to number 1228 in 2025, its highest rank to date.
