Zeno comes from the Greek Zenon, a name derived from Zeus, the king of the gods, so it is read as "of Zeus" or "gift of Zeus". Two famous philosophers bore it: Zeno of Elea, known for his paradoxes about motion, and Zeno of Citium, the founder of Stoicism. In the United States Zeno was a rarity at number 10342 in 2000 but has climbed steadily to number 2416 in 2024 and ranks number 2537 in 2025.
