Yazan is an Arabic name taken from Dhu Yazan, a "royal" clan of pre-Islamic Yemen whose prince Sayf ibn Dhi Yazan is a hero of Arabic legend; the literal meaning of the clan name is not settled. The name is very popular in Jordan, Syria and the Gulf today and travels with Arab American families. Yazan ranked number 3073 in the United States in 2000 and has risen to number 1127 in 2025, its best rank so far.
