Westyn is a modern respelling of Weston, the English surname and place name that means "western town" or "west settlement", from the Old English west and tun. The -yn ending follows the fashion of Jaxtyn and Kaydyn and makes the familiar name look new. Westyn ranked number 8176 in the United States in 2000 and number 1404 in 2015, entered the top 1000 in 2022 and reached number 724 in 2025, its best rank so far.
