Verity is an English virtue name taken from the Latin veritas and means "truth". Like Charity, Felicity and Mercy it was adopted by the Puritans in the 17th century and has remained in quiet use in Britain ever since. Americans discovered it only recently: Verity rose from number 2925 in 2015 to number 1482 in 2025, its best rank so far and still outside the top 1000.
