Tina started as a short form of Christina, Martina or Valentina and so usually carries the meaning "follower of Christ" of its most common source. It became a given name in its own right in the mid-20th century and belongs to the rock legend Tina Turner and comedian Tina Fey. Tina ranked 575 among US girls in 2000, left the top 1000 soon afterwards and stands at number 2815 in 2025.
