Tidus is the name of the hero of the video game Final Fantasy X (2001), coined by its Japanese creators from the Okinawan word tida, "sun". It has no history before the game and is one of the few names in the American statistics that come straight from gaming. Tidus has appeared in the US records since the 2000s, peaked at number 1956 in 2016 and stands at number 2566 in 2025.
