Sitara is the Persian, Urdu and Hindi word for "star", a cousin of the Latin stella and the English star through their shared Indo-European root. It is used across Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India and has a soft, melodic sound in English. In the United States Sitara has risen from number 6210 in 2015 to number 2351 in 2025, its best rank yet.
