Sabine is the French and German form of the Latin Sabina, which means "Sabine woman" and refers to the ancient Italic people whose women, in Roman legend, were carried off by Romulus's men. Saint Sabina of Rome kept the name alive, and it is a familiar classic in France, Germany and the Netherlands. In the United States Sabine moved from number 2700 in 2000 to a peak of number 1865 in 2024 and ranks number 2151 in 2025.
