Romari is a modern American creation that joins the Ro- of Roman and Romeo to the -mari ending of Amari and Jamari; it has no traditional source of its own, and Amari in turn is usually explained with the Arabic word for "eternal" or as a Yoruba name meaning "strength". Romari ranked number 11814 in 2015, was still number 4057 in 2024 and jumped to number 1806 in 2025, its highest rank yet, with 89 births.
